The Great Blood Beast: Part 6

Part 6

They began to hover.
A thought strayed through her mind.
She held tighter.
Is this a test?
"Of sorts"
Her heart punched her chest.
He read my mind!
"How else are all prayers heard?
Your mind is part spirit
And speaks clear as your tongue.
Luckily, demons are deaf to it."

She kept silent for a moment,
Then asked, no need to think it,
"How are you flying?"
"Wings of course.
They're difficult to see,
At least in this form.
I didn't want to blind you."
But she saw them,
A translucent blue
That sparkled like the creeks below,
Back lit by the sun.

They glided for miles,
Just feet above the trees.
Still he smiles,
It never leaves.
She pondered, curious.
Where are you taking me?
His only answer:
Something you must see.

But this concerned her.
The last time he said that,
She was nearly murdered.
His eyes would not bat.
He was statuesque.
Were it not for the warmth,
The scent of cherry blooms,
The emanation of light...
"I assure you I'm alive."
She smiled.
Still reading my mind?

They approached a beach,
Landed softly,
Violet water within reach.
I know this place.
I... I know that tree.
The fear returned.
"So what's next for me?"

To her chagrin,
He just stood there,
Sporting a sly grin.

"Wait for it."
