The Great Blood Beast - Part 2

Out of nowhere,
A creature red as blood,
Sweeps past them, poised to attack.
Rust-red wings unfurled,
Teeth as if made of steel,
It turns 'round to glare back.
What she saw in it's eyes,
Those eyes of sulfur yellow,
Was thirst or blood uncurdled.

And dread hit her like a flood.

She feared greatly for the youth,
For the infants,
For her own child,
Though she's yet to concieve.
And the beast's thirst unnerved her.
Again he whispers,
"Something you must know".
And the beast reared up,
Lifted it's head, and bellowed.
The sound shook the mountains,
And the ground beneath rumbled.
She groped for her ears
And bent down in fear,
It all made her nauseous.
Snow crumbled 'round her.
She stumbled onto her side,
Looked up at the creature,
Then fell unconscious.

She felt a crushing pain,
Then only darkness.

She awakes again
Inside that dragon's den,
Feeling a sticky warmth.
She touches her belly,
Then lifts her hand,
All she saw was red.
She moaned, she teared,
A grunt of pain.
This is what she feared.

She didn't want to die,
Not in this other-world.
Could she die?
No certain answer.

She lied there, naked,
Weakly holding herself together,
Pondering so many questions.
Will she die here
Only to wake elsewhere?
As her life fades,
Would she feel that cool grass
Where her body lay?

Her breathing hollowed,
Her heart slowed.
Again she touched her belly.
It was numb.
She let her hand fall
Into the crimson pool beneath.

What's happening? Why?

She barely heard the thump,
As the beast slinked in,
Of her heart's last beat.
One final breath,
Now she saw her end.
With one last impulse,
She looked up
And saw the dragon
Brooding, drooling over her.

She slipped away.

The Great Blood Beast: An Epic Poem

Part 1 of my epic poem (which is still in progress)

Tension, such tension
Such things unknown.
It brings pain,
It brings confusion,
It will eat you alive.

Fly through a forest,
Feel a rush of pain
As teeth upon her pressed.
Bloodied has she lain.
Many hours, maybe days,
In that dragon's den.
For strength she prays,
If only to stand and face the problems ahead.

And it's gone, all of it,
Another place she awakes.
Birds flutter through canopies lit,
And grass caresses her face.
She stands to look around,
A black jaguar comes her way,
Unafraid, like a house-cat,
It sits near her a moment,
Then wanders away.
For a moment she glides,
Seeing her own body behind her back.
She follows the creature,
Past trees and rocky ground,
To a place unseen before.

A portal, water falling;
From mid-air it comes
Pouring over her head
Into a world below that's calling.
Something you must see,
The black cat whispers
As he morphs into a griffin.
Before she can blink,
On his back they glide
Past the waterfall's brink.
Something you must see,
He whispers solemnly.

Into snowy mountains,
We climb into the air,
Past pine trees and cliffs,
Then lower to the ground,
As the air he sniffs.
This is what you must see.

Storm

A dark night,
A storm awakes,
I am not afraid,
For my God is here.

Masks take flight,
And hearts awake,
I will rejoice,
For my God has won.

Don't make light
My faith, I stake
All I am and have
On the Love of God

For He is my Hope,
He is my Life,
And He is my Guidance,
I will forever follow.
